Zanzo

Jay and Dean (AKA Zanzo) met back in August 2021. With a similar vision of ‘creating and preserving precious family memories’, Dean and Jay soon connected and Dean began offering $400 family photoshoot vouchers and a set of their famous Doggie Playing Cards for all Homely Retreats clients and their families. WOW! Dean has since began doing photoshoots for HR merchandise and donating photoshoot sitting fees to Homely Retreats.

Incredible! Thank you Dean and family x

Pulse Business Services

Jay Met Patrick, Director of Pulse Business Services back in late 2018. Patrick very kindly offered to help ‘set up’ Homely Retreats as a registered company and Not-for-profit organisation. Patrick and his team have continued to offer discounted accounting rates and ongoing advice and assistance for Homely Retreats. Thank you Patrick and team so much for being there since day one!

Abs by the Bay

In early 2020, Simon and Hilary Purdie and family purchased Abs By The Bay in Taranna. As a family who has been touched by cancer, they understand the importance of taking time out together to create precious family memories.

Hilary read an article in The Mercury newspaper about Homely Retreats and contacted us to offer free accommodation for our clients and their families.

Each month we are sending clients and their families to Taranna for a break and some ‘quality family time’ at Abs By The Bay. Every family has commented that the Tasman Peninsula is ‘…the perfect place to get away from

Kwuirky

Kirsty Willson was happy to begin knitting a feature fundraiser beanie each year. She donates $10 from each one sold. In 2019 Kwuirky began with teal beanies for ovarian cancer. In 2020 we sold pink beanies for breast cancer. In 2021, navy beanies for brain cancer. In 2022, we are selling plum in honour of carers of those going through a cancer journey.

We are so grateful for Kirsty’s support, KWUIRY has donated over $1000 to Homely Retreats over the past few years.

Belles

Each year Belles Burgers Bellerive, owned by Matt Hidding and family, hold a burger special for a month and donate $2 from each item sold for that month.

Over the past few years, Belles has donated nearly $2,000 to our cause.

Matt shares that when he was a teenager his mum went through cancer treatment, so he sees the importance and value in the family respite services that Homely Retreats provides across Tasmania.

Girls Afternoon Out

Jay met Kath at a yoga retreat in 2019. Kath mentioned that her mum had passed away from cancer and how her and her friend Hayley had hosted a Girls Afternoon Out and raised $19k for the ‘Love Your Sister’ organisation. Jay joked “wow! We need you on our fundraising team!’

Many years later, in 2021, Kath contacted Jay to let her know that Kath and Hayley had decided to host their annual Girls Afternoon Out event to fundraise for Homely Retreats this time. Wow! How fantastic… not only did they host an amazing event hosting 250 x women and creating a safe and fun space for everyone to celebrate and reflect; but they also raised and donated $50k to Homely Retreats!

This year K&H hosted over 250+ guests at Crowne Plaza and again donated $50k to Homely Retreats! This will allow us to support around another 75+ Tasmanian families throughout their cancer journey.

What incredible efforts from our fundraising angels!

In2 Constructions

Jay and Peter Venteri  met in 2019, through mutual friends.

Unfortunately, Peter had not long lost his beloved sister to cancer. He understood with the need for quality family time and was aware of the lack of these types of family support services within Tasmania.

Peter was our first major donor and assisted Homely Retreats in reaching its founding year milestones.

We are so grateful for Peter’s support over the years; also for his trust in our mission to offer tailored support for families going through a cancer journey.

The Art of Tea

We met Samantha (The Art of Tea owner) in 2023 at a networking event, tried her wonderful loose leaf teas and fell in love. We thought ‘…imagine if all of our families had a box of fresh Art of Tea tea in their Travel Hamper…’ We flicked Samantha an email and she responded by delivering enough Breakfast Tea/Snooze Blend Tea and tea filters for all (anticipated) families for 2023. A perfect addition to our growing hampers…an extra incentive for families to slow down and enjoy a cuppa together. Amazing! Thank you so much Samantha!
